We are Gracie Hyde and Romain Legendre, the founders of The Monthly Grind, a new curated coffee subscription service delivering high-quality, small-batch roasts to subscribers across the U.S. Each month, we feature a different roaster and spotlight their story, process, and unique flavor profiles. It is designed for the adventurous coffee lover waiting to be surprised by the pick of the month.

How It Started

It all began as a Christmas gift idea. Gracie wanted to find the perfect present for a true coffee lover—me, Romain. A monthly coffee subscription felt like the obvious choice. But as she searched, something felt off. None of the subscriptions she found matched what she had in mind—the quality, the feeling, the experience.

That’s when she came to me and said, “I have a business idea.”
I didn’t hesitate for a second. I was in.

We don’t just like coffee—we love everything around it. The ritual. The aesthetic. The moments it creates. Long hours spent in coffee shops, that first cup before work, pulling an espresso in the afternoon with a small snack, finishing a meal with a coffee and a piece of chocolate. No matter the moment, it always comes back to the same thing: that first sip. The flavor that stops you for a second.

That’s what The Monthly Grind is about. Discovering a new flavor every month—or more often if you want—delivered straight to you. A subscription built from our love for coffee and the way it fits into everyday life.

Meet Gracie & Romain

Professional runners by trade, coffee shop regulars by heart. Gracie and Romain can easily spend hours on a coffee shop terrace—working on projects, people-watching, or simply talking life over a good cup of coffee.

Gracie is an oat milk latte addict. She loves thrift shopping, crafting her own clothes, and creating meaningful moments with the people she cares about. Romain is a double-espresso purist, endlessly dialing in the perfect shot while watching NBA highlights. His room feels more like a coffee shop than a bedroom, thanks to the constant flow of friends stopping by for “just one coffee.”

She’s American. He’s French. They met in college—and yes, their first date was, unsurprisingly, at a coffee shop.

Their shared side quest? Turning their love (okay, obsession) with coffee into something they can share. They believe coffee should feel personal, just like your favorite drink order. Curious by nature and always eager to discover something new, they see coffee as a way to break out of the everyday routine.
